Away from here!

Sadly, this is my last post. T-Mobile has tried very hard to convince me that their web interface to the Sidekick data is "secure", but I find that very hard to believe, given that the page itself is unencrypted and transmitted over the internet. I've returned it, and the search continues.

I know those words, but that sign makes no sense.

When a company has 10 customers and they get 10 more, they've just doubled their size. When a company has 100 customers and they get 20 more, they didn't double their size, but they did better. It irks me that 'X is the fastest growing company in market Y!' is accepted by anyone as a statement that that company (or product) is somehow better than all of the others, regardless of the actual numbers.

There's no "find in page" in the danger browser. That would make life easier.

I'm finding that posting in real time has a very different feeling from jotting down a note and then composing something later. For one thing, I'm not accumulating a whole list of things to post later that never do. It remains to be seen whether that's a good thing or not.

Some other things about the sidekick:
  1. the thing has an ir port. Why can't I beam events and contacts to other devices?
  2. a clipboard would be helpful
  3. it's kind of irritating that the privacy lock displays what you enter when you unlock it

Sitting in a bar on Thursday night, for the going away party for a friend of mine who's leaving for DC. The party was approached by a guy taking a survey in exchange for free smokes. Except this time, he had a portable photocopy machine, taking copies of ID for age verification. My first thought on seeing this was ... What a great scam for an identity theft ring.

Danger browser doesn't seem to like pictures with spaces in the name...

Some things I'd like to see this device do:
  1. save web pages to internal storage for offline reading
  2. view html source
  3. ssh
  4. zoom pictures
